Discover letters through colouring
The English Alphabet collection brings uppercase and lowercase letters together with a picture whose English name begins with the same letter. Each printable page focuses on one letter, giving children a clear subject to look at, name and colour. You can work through the alphabet in order or choose a letter that connects with a child's name, favourite animal or current interests.
Before colouring, point to both letter forms and say their names together. Then name the picture and listen for its beginning sound. For example, an elephant gives you a starting point for talking about the letter E. Keep the conversation simple and follow the child's familiarity with English. The pictures offer something concrete to discuss while the letters introduce a different kind of shape to recognise.
Try using a small selection of pages for a letter hunt. After finishing a picture, look around the room for another object that begins with the same sound. Older children might suggest extra words or make a short sentence about the illustration. Younger children can simply choose colours, point to the larger letter and enjoy returning to the same page on another day.
The gallery contains a separate A4 PDF for each letter from A to Z. Open the preview or PDF button to view a page in a new tab, then save or print your selection. Use the sheets individually, arrange finished pages into a classroom display or collect them in a personal alphabet folder that grows as more letters become familiar.
