Follow a path from the start picture to the finish

Picture Mazes combines route finding with small illustrations to colour. Each worksheet has a clear starting picture, a destination picture and a maze between them. Children look for a continuous route through the passages and trace it with a pencil. The six pages move from smaller, easier mazes towards larger challenges, allowing you to choose a suitable place to begin.

Look at both pictures before entering the maze and describe the journey in simple words. A rabbit needs to reach a carrot, for example, while another page connects a different pair of subjects. Find the entrance and exit, then follow an open passage with a finger. Notice how a wall blocks a route and how a turning can lead somewhere new.

Encourage a steady pace and allow time to explore a route before drawing it. Reaching a dead end can become part of the puzzle: return to an earlier turning and consider another passage. Once the destination is reached, check the traced path together and colour the two pictures. The activity can end with a short story about the journey shown on the page.

Choose one of the six A4 PDFs from its preview and open it in a new tab to save or print. Each file contains a separate maze, so you can print a single challenge without using the entire collection. Begin with an easier page, move to a bigger maze when the child wants another challenge and revisit favourites with fresh colour choices on a new copy.
