Visit familiar places through all four seasons
The Four Seasons collection explores spring, summer, autumn and winter by returning to the same landscape at different times of year. Choose a park, seaside, house garden, mountain, forest or farm, then discover four related scenes to colour. Familiar landmarks provide a thread between the pictures, while changes in the surroundings and activities invite children to look more closely.
Begin with a place the child knows or would like to visit. Look at one scene and say the English season name together. Talk about what is happening, what people are wearing and which plants or landscape features stand out. The drawings provide prompts for conversation, but children can also connect them with their own experiences of a particular place.
Comparing scenes is an important part of this collection. Put two pages next to each other and search for a landmark that appears in both. What has changed around it? What has stayed recognisable? Remember that seasonal conditions vary around the world, so use the illustrations to explore possible changes rather than expecting every location to follow exactly the same pattern.
Open a landscape below to see its four A4 PDF previews. Each seasonal page can be saved or printed separately in a new tab. Colour one scene for a short activity, or collect all four and arrange them in seasonal order. The completed set can become a display, a picture discussion or the beginning of a story about returning to a favourite place throughout the year.
